Internet Courses and Conference on Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics

Dear Colleague,

Our spring 2016 introductory course on Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics (7.5 ECT credits) is now open for application at www.universityadmissions.se (course code UU-87307).

See also http://www.pharmbio.org for information.

On request of many previous participants we now also offer two additional courses:

  1.  Applied Structural Pharmaceutical Bioinformatis(5 ECTS credits) (course code UU-87309 at www.universityadmissions.se).
  2. Applied Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics(5 ECTS credits) (course code UU-87320 at www.universityadmissions.se).

(see http://www.pharmbio.org/pages/other_courses for further information).

On top of this a new conference in the field – 1st International Conference on Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics – is now also open for early registration and abstract submission – see http://icpb.net

For information, Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics is a new discipline in the genomics revolution that has immense impact on the chemical, biological and biomedical areas, where molecular interactions and molecular change is involved, and it teaches how modern chemobioinformatics methods can be used to analyze biology down to its finest chemical detail and how this can be used to bridge the biological world with the chemical one based on the achievements of the genomics revolution. An obvious example is the design of new drugs and understanding their functions, but the field is not limited to this as all biological events do in fact have a chemical origin.

The field is highly interdisciplinary with research problems in areas like informatics and mathematical statistics also for those that have such interests.

Course literature for the course is the textbook: «Introduction to Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics» (ISBN 978-91-979403-0-6).

The courses are suited for students, researchers, teachers and professionals in the biological, chemical, biomedical and pharmaceutical fields and other disciplines with an interest in the area, and is completely free of charge for citizens of EU/EAA and Switzerland. Our courses have met with great success and now host almost 600 Swedish and international students from academia and industry each year.

The next course is scheduled for start on January 18, 2016 and runs at half speed. The course scheme is very flexible and does not require any fixed hours. In fact, many of our students successfully run the courses at the side of their other studies or full-time work.

The courses are eligible for ECTS credits, the ECTS being the standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and collaborating European countries.

If you have any questions regarding the courses I am at your disposal.

Moreover, as we have difficulties to reach out to all students, I would appreciate very much if you could forward this mail to students and others that you think might be interested in our courses.

To attend anyone of the courses, please sign up at www.pharmbio.org and you will receive further information how to attend the courses.

To attend the conference, please sign up att www.icpb.net

All my best regards
