Invitation to The Sustainable Development Seminar – One Human Family, Food for All

Why are more than 800 million people in the world still suffering from hunger? And how can we end this global injustice? If the primary goal of the new Sustainable Development Goals is to alleviate human suffering, people suffering from starvation and malnutrition must be prioritized. How will the UN, civil society organizations and the Norwegian government respond to the greatest of needs; food?

A strong and renewed effort is needed to place food security on the national and international agenda and foster real commitment to end hunger.  Norway should be an advocate for the rights of small-scale farmers in developing countries to own and cultivate their soil and thus secure the access to food for future generations.

On November 11, Caritas Norway organizes a one-day seminar to debate these questions. The State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hans Brattskar, will open the seminar. Participants include the recognized researcher and outspoken proponent of agro-ecology, Dr. Hans Herren, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Director of Norad, Villa Kulild and NGOs from Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo working every day to end hunger. Together they will think about new solutions to secure the right to food of all humans, and point out a direction forward in the international campaign against hunger.

Please note that there are limited number of seats so we recommend to sign up as early as possible
