Monday December 8th, MCB in cooperation with Studentsamskipnaden’s Career Centre, organizes a CV-workshop for young researchers (PhD-fellows, post docs etc) who are looking for job opportunities outside of academic research.

This is the first part of a 3-stage program, which will also include two more modules to run next spring on application writing and interview techniques.

This workshop is focused on mapping your competence in a company (or public service) setting, and creating a CV that can effectively present your experience and skills in that setting.

Two of the course instructors, Rønnaug Tveit and Idar Nestaas, are professional career advisers at the Career Centre, while Hiwa Målen is a former life-science researcher who has now been working in commercial companies for several years.

While Rønnaug and Idar can tell you a lot about what employers are looking for in general, Hiwa will be linking this more directly to your own situation by bringing in his personal experience.  There will also be some time for you to work on your own CV’s.

Who can participate: any young researcher having or pursuing a PhD within life-sciences.  MCB membership is not required

Please note:
The workshop will consist of a combination of lectures and exercises.  You will be required to bring a CV.  If you don’t have one, make a short sketch which you can work on during the workshop.  

The teaching will primarily be in Norwegian, but the instructors will supplement in English as far as possible.  Examples of CV’s in both Norwegian and English will be presented.
