NEWSLETTER FROM THE DATA PROTECION OFFICIAL FOR RESEARCH – FALL 2013 (EN)

NSD is the Data Protection Official for your institution. This entails that projects that are subject to notification have to be reported to NSD. The obligation to notify is a legal requirement, and the procedure of notifying NSD is in agreement with the institution.

Brochure about the obligation to notify
The brochure provides general information about the obligation to notify, as well as our contact information.

Test if the project is subject to notification
Are you unsure whether your project is subject to notification? Feel free to try our informal test.

If you have academic or supervising responsibility for students that are to undertake projects that might be subject to notification, we kindly ask that you inform your students about the brochure and the test.

Students projects
Because of the large increase in numbers of notifications made from students at bachelor level, we encourage the institutions to teach students how to undertake projects without registering personal data. Learn how this can be done here.

Lectures and presentations from the Data Protection Official
The Data Protection Official can provide information about the obligation to notify for staff and research fellows. Information can be adapted for specific groups or research topics. We may
occasionally give talks for students, provided that the person with academic responsibility is present. The institution covers travel expenses, the lecture is free.
