Senter for grunnforskning, eller Centre for Advanced Study (CAS Oslo), inviterer fremragende forskere til å søke seg til ett års forskningsopphold i perioden 2020-21. Søknadsfrist: 15. januar 2018.
CAS Oslo er Norges eneste senter for fremragende tverrfaglig grunnforskning. Hvert år tar senteret imot tre forskergrupper av høy internasjonal kvalitet som forsker innenfor humaniora, samfunnsvitenskap og naturvitenskap.
Gruppelederne, som må være tilknyttet CAS Oslos partnerinstitusjoner, står fritt til å invitere forskere fra universiteter i Norge og utlandet. Hver gruppe blir bevilget ca. 3,5 millioner kroner, og forskere tilknyttet partnerinstitusjonene får ekstraordinær forskningstermin.
Administrasjonen bistår i forberedelser og gjennomføring av konferanser, tilbyr teknisk utstyr, bibliotektjenester, og felles lunsj hver dag. Forskere som kommer utenbys fra blir tilbudt leilighet. Denne “totalpakken” er årsaken til at mange forskere beskriver det akademiske året ved CAS Oslo som det mest produktive i sin karriere.
I første søknadsrunde kreves kun en skisse. Forskere med de beste prosjektskissene inviteres til å utarbeide en fullstendig søknad. De tre utvalgte gruppene har to år til å forberede forskningsoppholdet.

Call for applications: CAS projects 2020/21

CAS Oslo, Norway’s only institute for excellence in interdisciplinary fundamental research, is now accepting project proposals for the 2020/21 academic year. Deadline: 15 January 2018.
CAS Oslo’s primary objective is to strengthen fundamental research by providing outstanding scholars with the opportunity to collaborate on projects across disciplinary and national boundaries.
Each year, CAS Oslo hosts three interdisciplinary research groups working within the fields of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. The groups comprise leading academics from around the world and are led by eminent scholars affiliated with CAS Oslo’s partner institutions in Norway.
Group leaders assemble their research groups from among national and international colleagues. Each group receives a NOK 3.5 million grant, and scholars affiliated with CAS Oslo’s partner institutions are granted sabbatical leave during their residency.
CAS Oslo offers a unique research infrastructure and service platform, including apartments for visiting scholars, event support, IT and library services, and more. This combination of benefits and services is why many scholars describe their stay at CAS Oslo as the most productive time of their careers.
Applicants are initially required to submit a brief project outline. Following the first evaluation round, a handful of applicants will be invited to submit a more detailed project proposal. The three groups selected for residency at CAS Oslo will have two years to plan their stay.
